Armadillo Fall Training Day |
Written by Roy Kleinsasser
Monday, 04 August 2008 |
| You may be a new Tiger Den Leader who knows nothing about Scouts or you may be an old veteran Scoutmaster who is trying to start a Venturing Crew. Maybe you’ve been part of a Pack Committee for years but don’t understand how this Boy Scout program really works. Or perhaps your skills have gotten a bit rusty and you need some new ideas. The Armadillo District Fall Training Day on September 27 at Highland Park Baptist Church, 5206 Balcones is for you. This training day will give you the skills to lead your Scouts effectively and will allow you to network and interact with other leaders in the same position as you. |
All Scout leader training starts with Fast Start training available on the web. Be sure to take this online class before you come. Scout leaders are considered trained when they have completed New Leader Essentials and leader specific training for their current position. Cub Scout Leaders, Troop Committee members, and Venturing leaders can complete those during this one day. Scoutmasters and ASMs can get most of their basic training completed as well. They will also need to complete Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills, which will be offered later this fall. Check the Armadillo District web site for the latest.
For the schedule and registration, please look into this Great Event!

Take Order Popcorn Information for 2008 |
Written by Doug Rose

Sunday, 03 August 2008 |
Take Order is the traditional sale where Scouts canvas the neighborhood, friends, family, and the office to take orders and collect money up-front. The sale runs through October and the popcorn is distributed in early November to pass out to customers.
Our program is so exciting this year that we have not one, but dual District Kernels!
Jack Gindler and Cam Witt will be delivering program details and selling ideas at the September 11 Roundtable, plus order forms, to help you grow your program. This is one orientation you won't want to miss. In fact, you should bring a friend! To get a taste (no pun intended) see them August 14 at Roundtable 7:15 at St. Martin's Lutheran Church downtown (15th & Rio Grande) Click here for a map of Saint Martin's Lutheran Church.
