If you are interested in launching model rockets or just watching them, then take a look at the local rocket club: the Austin Area Rocketry Group. These fine folks have helped Scouts learn about model rockets at Camporees and other events.

They have a yahoo group where they discuss issues, upcoming launches, etc.  This is where someone would come to find out when the next launch will happen.  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rocketry-austin/

They launch the first Saturday of each month if weather permits.
