How to Plan a Shooting Sports Activity for Your Troop
1. As part of the developing the Troop calendar for the year, have the Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) set a date that they want to participate in a shooting sports activity, with alternative dates in case the range is busy. Be sure to check on the Council and District calendars to ensure there are no conflicts.
(Note: if you do your planning and schedule months in advance, you are more likely to get the dates you want).

PUBLIC SAFETY ACADEMY - OCTOBER 16 & 30
Scouts who did not attend the first session of the Public Safety Academy may still attend the second session on October 30. At that session we will cover the requirements for the Traffic Safety and Fingerprinting merit badges. We will also offer search and rescue training that will satisfy some of the requirements for the Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge.

If you are interested in launching model rockets or just watching them, then take a look at the local rocket club: the Austin Area Rocketry Group. These fine folks have helped Scouts learn about model rockets at Camporees and other events.
