Photo Submission Guidelines

Armadillo District is happy to display photos of District events submitted by Scouts and Scouters alike. Please follow the instructions below to ensure the best results.Photo Criteria

v     Photos should be in .JPEG or .JPG format of no more than 250kb

v     Screen resolution of 100-150 LPI (lines per inch)

v     Screen size of 600 x 600 DPI (dots per inch)

v     Use software to name your photos prior to submission. A free image viewer/converter is Irfanview  (http://www.tucows.com/preview/194967) Modern digital cameras usually retain image date such as date and time the photo is taken.

o       Name your photos like this: § 08_camporee_bp_001.jpg§  (year)_(event)_(your inititals)_(image number).jpg

v     The Webmaster and Armadillo District reserves the right to edit or refuse any photos submitted without notice.

v     Email photos, in compressed (zip) files, to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Some Do’s:

o       Edit your photos prior to submitting them. Please don’t send 10 photos of the same group of boys in various actions, send only 2 or 3.

o       Make sure photos are well composed.

o       Make sure photos are in focus and are correctly exposed.

o       The photos should have a theme or “purpose”. The subjects usually look best if they are looking at the camera.

o       Get photo releases for the subjects in your photos. (Note: scenes involving many people may not be subject to the need for photo releases. When in doubt, do not submit the photo(s). One troop has all their members sign a photo release when they join the troop that also covers the parents, siblings, etc.)

Some Don’t’s:

o       Do not submit all the photos for an event, UNLESS they are all “winners”.

o       Do not submit out of focus photos or photos that are too dark or too light.

o       Do not submit photos that don’t have a focal point to the photo, aimless photos of boys looking down at a (flag, boiling pot of water, etc.) are boring to view.

o       Do not submit photos that you do not have PHOTO RELEASES for. (The Armadillo District, Capital Area Council, and the Boy Scouts of America assumes no responsibility nor liability for the photos that are submitted.) If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact the webmaster, and thank you in advance for following the procedure
