Here are some organizations in and around Austin that are always looking for some help.
Lanier High School I'm contacting you, because my little brother recently earned his Eagle up in Dallas, and his eagle project was creating a child-friendly garden at a daycare. I work at Lanier High School, and last April, we had a clean-up at our school. There is a plot of land in the front of the courtyard, which is simply an eyesore. I know how long it took for my brother to find his eagle project, so I thought I'd check to see if anyone local needed an eagle project idea. Northwest Austin Kickball (NWA) is a non-profit youth sports organization for girls based in NW Austin. They provide equipment and use the athletic fields at Doss/Murchison schools on Far West Blvd. They currently have a potential project to design, build, and install bleacher covers at some of the fields. North Park YMCA. Besides getting some important work done it would be so beneficial for some of the teenagers in this neighborhood to see some positive role models actually accomplishing something. This neighborhood has so many negative influences and the families and kids are on such a slippery slope that any positive ray of light is so important.
