We will end the summer with our annual Lyman Bailey Ice Cream Social on July 13. We will start gathering around 6:30 pm and enjoy ice cream treats before they melt!

Did you know that there is a park named after a Scoutmaster and the first commissioner in Austin? Bailey Park, located one block west of Lamar at 1101 W. 33rd St., is a natural location to celebrate Scouting in Austin.

Lyman J. Bailey started Troop 1 in 1911 and later became the 1st commissioner in the Austin Council in 1912. He died in 1935. In 1938, Bailey Park was named in his honor.

This facility features an historic stone pavilion and a splash pad if you want to bring the kids. The District Committee and the Commissioners will serve ice cream treats for all. We’d like to get your feedback on recent Roundtables and learn what you’d like to cover in the future. But most of all, we want to thank you, the volunteers of the Armadillo District, for your service to Scouting in Austin.

Come join us on Thursday, July 13!
