Third Annual Lyman Bailey Ice Cream Social

Bailey_park_shelter_house_austin_2014Join us for a special event in place of our monthly Roundtable, Thursday, July 12, 6:30 – 8:00 PM!

Did you know that there is a park named after a Scoutmaster and the first commissioner in Austin? Bailey Park, located one block west of Lamar at 1101 W. 33rd St., is a natural location to celebrate Scouting in Austin.

Lyman J. Bailey started Troop 1 in 1911 and later became the 1st commissioner in the Austin Council in 1912. He died in 1935. In 1938, Bailey Park was named in his honor.  Learn more about Bailey Park history.

This facility features an historic stone pavilion and a splash pad if you want to bring the kids. The District Committee and the Commissioners will serve ice cream for all to enjoy. We want to get your feedback on recent Roundtables and what you’d like in the future. But most of all, we want to thank you, the volunteers of the Armadillo District, for your service to Scouting in Austin.

See you July 12!
